Disney Auditions

The other day I did something I never thought I would actually do... I attended a Disney audition for an entertainment role! I always dreamed of being a Disney princess, but I knew my height (or lack there of) didn't allow that to happen. I decided to go just to see what might happen because this was for any role in entertainment. This audition was only for current CP's, so I figured it would be a bit more laid back and relaxed.

I went with my friend, Kayla, and her roommate. When we arrived there was already a huge line. The email said to not arrive before 5:00 p.m. because it was in the building where people who work at Animal Kingdom get their costumes and they didn't want us to get in their way. We got there at 4:58 p.m. and were already in the second group of 100 people.

After we got a number we were told to sit down until everyone was there and we would sign in together. During this time we stretched a little bit on our own and talked with others. Eventually they called numbers 1-100 to go back. After a while we saw them leave, and we realized those were the ones who didn't make it.

The next group to go back was the group I was in. We went into a dance studio and sat down. They explained what was going to happen, which was that we would learn a quick parade routine and then perform it for them. They also explained how they would pick people to move onto the next round, which was based off of what they have to offer. They would of course look at how you performed, as well as your height and body structure. They said we could have a great audition but they might not have anything for us at that time.

I wasn't too nervous until the music started and we started performing in groups of four... The nerves definitely kicked in a bit then. After everyone performed they called out a small group of numbers to move on. I didn't make it, which I was perfectly okay with! I didn't expect to make it because I've heard stories about how intense these audition process is. I'm just glad I can say I did it! Kayla, however, did make it to the next round so I'm keeping my fingers crossed she gets chosen.

I know the next round was more dancin and an animation portion, which is what I would be most nervous about. Kayla said it was too bad, but I'm not the best actress so I feel like I would really have to work on that.

If you ever think about going to an audition but aren't sure, definitely go for it. They're extremely nice and it is overall a great experience. I know I would've regretted it if I didn't go and now if I ever want to audition again I know how the process works and will be a bit more relaxed.
